In Her Words: Client Shares Her Recovery Journey at 28th Benefit Party & Show
Every year, at our annual Benefit Party & Show, an Epiphany graduate bravely tells her story of addiction and path to recovery through Epiphany programs. This gives the graduate an opportunity to share openly about her experience - an important tool for sustained recovery - as well as gives event guests a first-hand account of how their support changes lives. This year, a current resident of Epiphany Step-Down Housing, bravely stood in front of guests to tell her story. We invite you all to read her powerful remarks below - an incredible testament to the impact and importance of the generous support we receive for Epiphany's life-saving services.
“Good evening, everyone. I stand before you today as living proof of the life-changing impact of Epiphany Center and its incredible Recovery and Childcare Programs. When I walked through the doors of Epiphany I was broken, lost, and unsure if I could ever rebuild my life. But Epiphany gave me more than just treatment—it gave me hope, a community, and the tools to truly heal.
The guidance, structure, and unwavering encouragement from the program—and especially from their amazing staff, helped me transition into a new chapter of my life with confidence. I am standing here today because of the love and support I received, and I know that with your help, Epiphany can ensure that other women receive the same second chance that I did.
“There was a time when my life was overshadowed by addiction and crime; a time when I felt lost and hopeless.”
I found Epiphany Center through a referral from community program. When I first arrived I had just been released from jail and 5 months pregnant. I was struggling to find my way but the support and guidance I received has been life-changing. Prior to Epiphany, during my 7 years of addiction, I attended 3 different recovery programs. I had struggled with an opiate addiction from the ages of 12 to 19. The difference between the other programs and Epiphany was the dedicated staff. Epiphany’s staff provided me with the tools and encouragement I needed to face my challenges head-on. They showed me a loving side while I was on my journey to sobriety and being a first-time mother. After my daughter Aaliya was born, I knew I had to make my way back to sobriety because I wanted to make sure I could be the mother and woman I needed to be for both of us.
I knew Epiphany Center was the safest place for both of us. I grew up around chaos and addiction; it was all I had ever known. I wanted to give my daughter a different life, a better life. The staff at Epiphany showed compassion toward me and my daughter that will never be forgotten. They have watched us grow up together. Through the Step-Down Program, I was able to transition smoothly from intensive recovery care to a more independent life, all while continuing to receive the support I needed. The sense of community and understanding that Epiphany provided has been invaluable in helping me stay committed to my sobriety. Thanks to Epiphany Center I am now on a path to a brighter and healthier future. I am forever grateful for the second chance they have given me.

They have also given my daughter the best chance by providing exceptional childcare for her from the time she was just one month old until now at 15 months. The care and dedication of the teachers have played a huge role in her growth and development, creating a nurturing and supportive environment where she has truly thrived. The teachers have not only ensured her safety and well-being but have also helped her reach important milestones through engaging activities, encouragement, and patience. Their love and commitment have made a lasting impact, and my daughter has formed a deep bond with her teachers. She feels comfortable, happy, and secure in their care, which gives me peace of mind knowing she is in such a positive and enriching daycare
I stand before you as a testament to the transformative power of addiction treatment. There was a time when my life was overshadowed by addiction and crime; a time when I felt lost and hopeless. But through Epiphany’s support and guidance, and my dedication, I found my way back to a life of purpose and fulfillment.
I’ve always liked to challenge myself so when I realized that I was starting my journey in sobriety and becoming a first-time mother all at once it was scary and was not an easy journey. It required immense courage, determination, and the willingness to confront my deepest fears and insecurities. But it was within the walls of Epiphany that I discovered the strength I never knew I had. I learned to understand the roots of my addiction, to rebuild my self-esteem, and to develop healthy coping mechanisms.
The support from counselors, therapists, and fellow participants has been priceless. They all provided a safe space for me to share my struggles and triumphs, and Epiphany’s unwavering belief in my potential fueled my desire to succeed. I have made some really great friends while at Epiphany and they have taught me that I am not defined by my past mistakes but by my ability to rise above them.
Today, I am proud to say that I have regained control of my life. I have rebuilt relationships, pursued my passions, and embraced a future filled with hope and possibilities. This transformation would not have been possible without the foundation of support and care that both I and my daughter received from Epiphany Center.

At Epiphany, I have learned that seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a true characteristic of strength and determination to create a better future. I am embracing the opportunity for change and am finding that the path to recovery is filled with hope, healing, and endless possibilities.
I can truly say I wouldn’t have been able to be where I am today, stand here before you, if not for my daughter and the love we have been shown at Epiphany Center.
