Feast of St. Vincent de Paul
As we celebrate the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul this Sunday, September 27, we are reminded of St. Vincent’s service and dedication to support the poor and suffering.
We see it as a privilege to follow in the footsteps of St. Vincent de Paul, caring for women, children and families in need. St. Vincent de Paul was an ordained priest who devoted himself entirely to improving the lives of the most vulnerable in society. In 1633, St. Vincent cofounded the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul along with St. Louise de Marillac. In 1852, the Daughters of Charity founded Mount St. Joseph – St. Elizabeth, which is now known as Epiphany Center. It has been 168 years of dedication to helping marginalized women and children in San Francisco. There are more than 18,000 Daughters today serving the needs of the poor in 94 countries.
“Lord, help me to make time today to serve you in those who are most in need of encouragement or assistance.”
– St Vincent de Paul
